Botox® / Dysport® / Xeomin®

At Hudson Face & Eye, Dr. Kashyap offers pain-free injections of botulinum protein using micro-needles. This anti-aging treatment is an effective way to maintain a youthful facial apperance.

When we smile, frown, and make other expressions, the muscles contract and cause dynamic wrinkles. Over time, continued contraction of facial expression muscles can convert dynamic wrinkles to  permanent facial lines.

Continued contraction of these facial muscles contributes to volume loss in the face.  Botox® has been successfully used by doctors for years to soften and even erase wrinkles, creating a refreshed and youthful appearance.

Our skilled physician administers Botox® in a tailored fashion to allow natural facial muscle function, while eliminating unwanted wrinkles and maintaining a youthful, refreshed look.

How does Botulinum Protein Work?

This protein (Botox®, Dysport®, Xeomin®) targets wrinkles around the eyes by relaxing the muscles so the overlying skin becomes smoother. Called a neuromodulator, botululium protein temporarily blocks the connection between the nerves and the facial muscles. It has been used for decades to treat muscle spasms and, more recently, for migraines and hyper-hydrosis.

In the hands of our experienced surgeon, Botox® injections are easy, fast, and pain-free.

The targeted wrinkles will look smoother, but you will still be able to make your normal facial expressions.

The goal is to look refreshed and well-rested while maintaining the ability to make natural facial expressions.

Other types of wrinkles are caused by loss of volume, which require dermal fillers to correct.  A combination of Botox® and dermal fillers can provide overall facial rejuvenation and slow down the aging process.

>> Meet Dr. Kashyap

The most common wrinkles that can be improved with BOTOX are:

  • Frown lines (glabellar wrinkles) between the eyebrows
  • Forehead creases
  • Crow’s feet around the eyes
  • Chin dimples
  • Downturned eyelids (a Botox® brow lift)
  • Bunny lines on the sides of the nose

While Botox® consists of a botulinum protein, do not let the “tox” in the word mislead you. This is a safe substance that has been used for decades, even on children, to treat muscle spasms, as well as excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis).

During your consultation and thorough examination with Dr. Kashyap, she will evaluate you carefully to make sure that you are a good candidate for Botox®

This involves talking about facial wrinkles you would like to eliminate. She will then determine if those wrinkles are caused by muscle activity or loss of volume. If they are caused by the muscles, you are a good candidate for Botox®. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or you have a neurological disease, however, you may be asked to wait before injections can be provided.

The micro-needles that Dr. Kashyap uses require no anesthetic. The Botox® is carefully injected into the targeted areas at a dosage that will leave you looking natural. A few injections are usually required, but the treatment takes only a matter of minutes.

You can go home or back to work immediately after your injections and continue with all of your normal daily activities.

Before & After

Botox® injections require no recovery time. Occasionally, a patient will have a mild reaction at the injection sites, including some minor bruising, redness, or soreness, but this nearly always resolves within 24 hours. If you avoid aspirin and anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDS) for two weeks before your treatment, you will be less likely to experience bruising. You can also take Arnica and Bromelain before and after your injection session to minimize these temporary effects. A very small percentage of patients develop mild eyelid drooping or facial asymmetry, which resolves within a few weeks.

The effects of Botox® will generally last from four to six months. As the muscle activity starts to return, wrinkles will start to reappear, at which time another treatment may be provided. Wrinkles often appear less severe with time and additional treatments.

Side effects of Botox® are rare. If they do occur, they are mild and temporary. Bruising or redness may develop temporarily at the site of injection. A small percentage of patients may develop mild eyelid drooping or facial asymmetry. If this occurs, it usually resolves after a few weeks.

Botox® injections are popular for a very good reason – they provide easy and safe anti-aging with no downtime. The results appear within three to seven days of treatment.

Botox® lasts four to six months, so they must be repeated regularly to maintain the results. However, with regular use, the treated muscles that are responsible for the wrinkles may permanently improve and soften over time.
