Facial Rejuvenation Q & A

What is facial rejuvenation?

When you hear facial rejuvenation, you may think of surgical procedures like facelifts, neck lifts, and blepharoplasty. These procedures effectively diminish signs of aging, but what if you aren’t ready for plastic surgery?

Dr. Yogita Kashyap offers a variety of non-surgical treatments for facial rejuvenation, including:

Microneedling with platelet-rich plasma (PRP)

Also known as collagen induction therapy, microneedling stimulates the production of healthy new cells so you can achieve a natural glow. Though microneedling is effective on its own, Dr. Kashyap will combine it with an infusion of Botox®, hyaluronic acid, or PRP for optimal beauty benefits.

CO2 laser resurfacing

This non-surgical resurfacing treatment uses a CO2 laser to remove a thin layer of skin. CO2 laser resurfacing treats common problems like wrinkles, scars, and age spots while tightening skin and balancing tone.

Botox and dermal fillers can also rejuvenate your face if wrinkles and loss of volume are of concern.

How does microneedling work?

Microneedling involves creating a series of superficial micro punctures in your skin to trigger your body’s natural healing response. Dr. Kashyap uses microneedling to diminish skin imperfections and improve the texture of your skin.

This treatment uses a specialized microneedling instrument, usually a roller with rows of fine needles, to create controlled puncture wounds that heal rapidly.

These wounds are only deep enough to stimulate your wound healing response, which includes increased collagen and elastin production.

Before the microneedling procedure, Dr. Kashyap may draw blood from your arm to make platelet-rich plasma (PRP). This solution contains a high concentration of healing growth factors from your body.

The combination of microneedling and PRP allows your skin to absorb the growth factors and heal more easily while further improving the look of your skin.

How does CO2 laser resurfacing work?

CO2 laser resurfacing reduces facial wrinkles and improves your skin tone and texture. Dr. Yogita Kashyap may recommend facial rejuvenation with the CO2 laser if you have one or more of the following skin concerns.

  • Wrinkles
  • Age spots
  • Sun damage
  • Scars

During treatment, Dr. Kashyap applies a focused beam of laser energy to your skin. This destroys your outer layer of skin and causes the new skin underneath to be smoother, tighter, and more evenly toned.
