Botox Q & A

What is Botox?

Botox is the leading FDA-approved treatment that uses botulinum toxin to temporarily reduce the appearance of frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead wrinkles. Similar products include Dysport® and Xeomin®, each with their own unique properties.

Highly-skilled Dr. Yogita Kashyap administers safe and painless Botox injections in a way that enhances your natural beauty without looking like you’ve had work done.

What does Botox treat?

Dr. Kashyap primarily uses Botox to treat facial wrinkles that result from repeated muscle contractions.

When you smile, frown, or furrow your brow in concentration, small muscles beneath your skin contract. Over time, temporary facial expressions may become permanent lines on your face.

Botox reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles in the following areas.

  • Crow’s feet around your eyes
  • Frown lines between the eyebrows
  • Forehead lines

Outside of aesthetic treatments, Botox is also an effective solution for a variety of medical conditions, including migraines, lazy eye, and painful muscle contractions.

How does Botox work?

The botulinum protein in Botox is a neuromodulator, which means it temporarily blocks the connection between the nerves and muscles in your face.

When the underlying muscles relax, the wrinkles they create disappear. Xeomin and Dysport work similarly in the areas they treat. The result is smoother, younger-looking skin.

Don’t worry; you can still make all your normal facial expressions after Botox. Because the injection technique plays a major role in the outcome, it’s important to get Botox injections from an experienced provider like Dr. Yogita Kashyap.

How do I know if Botox is right for me?

First, Dr. Yogita Kashyap spends time discussing your specific concerns and aesthetic goals. She will evaluate your skin and review your medical history to make sure you’re a good candidate for Botox.

If you have facial wrinkles that are due to a loss of volume, Dr. Kashyap may recommend a different type of treatment, such as dermal fillers or fat grafting.

You can also combine Botox with fillers to achieve overall facial rejuvenation that may slow down the aging process.

What should I expect from Botox injections?

Botox is a pain-free, in-office treatment that takes only 10 minutes. Afterward, you can resume normal activities without any downtime for recovery. You can even schedule Botox injections during your lunch break.

Results should appear within 1-3 days after treatment and last three months or longer. After that, you may want to return to Hudson Face & Eye for follow-up treatments.
